Licensing
A licence raises one number. The number of machines you may pair.
There is no feature gate, no seat count, no server-side account. Every RelayKey client enforces a default allowance of five paired machines. A licence tells it a larger number. That is the entire commercial model.
Work out your price
Five machines free. Above that, priced in bands.
Machines are billed in bands, and each band is charged on the machines that fall inside it — not on your total. A 21-machine account pays fifteen machines at the 6–20 rate plus one machine at the 21-and-up rate, which is $155 a year, not 21 × $5. Prices are in US dollars.
Prices are yearly. You can pay monthly instead, and paying monthly costs 20% more: the same band rates with the surcharge applied, then split over twelve payments. The bands and their boundaries do not change with the period. Run your own relay and you get a 50% discount on every rate — see the note under the calculator.

Worked example, both periods: 21 machines is $155 a year paid yearly, or $15.50 a month paid monthly, which comes to $186 a year. 100 machines is $550 a year, or $55 a month — $660 a year. Take 50% off any of those figures if you run your own relay.
Run your own relay: 50% discount
Every rate above is halved — $5 then $2.50 per machine per year, or $0.50 then $0.25 per machine per month. The shared TURN relay is the part that costs us money, so what the discount means in practice is that your machines use your relay instead of RelayKey's shared one. Request a licence
Two values, and no card fields.
This form sends nothing yet, because no payment provider has been connected. It validates what you type, prices it, and shows the whole request back to you so nothing is lost. When checkout exists it will be wired to this same form — deliberately, rather than bolting a second, different flow onto the page later.
It takes the machine count, the billing period and the relay tier straight from the calculator above, so a licence can be provisioned from one message without a follow-up email. Change any of them up there and submit again.
Or skip the form: email [email protected] with your Account ID, the machine count, whether you want to pay yearly or monthly, and whether you run your own relay. Never send your account key.
How it actually works
Your Account ID is the entitlement.
A client asks the licence endpoint for its allowance about once an hour and uses the number that comes back. Your Account ID is what that allowance is recorded against — a 20-character value the app derives from your account, shown in five groups of four. There is no licence file, no key to paste into the app, and nothing to activate or deactivate on a device.
The check is fail-closed. A missing, unreachable or unparseable response never grants more than the default. It is not fail-harsh either: once a client has had one good answer it keeps serving that answer for up to fourteen days of failing checks, so a network blip — or a fortnight offline — cannot relock your machines mid-session. Only a genuine first run with nothing ever cached falls back to five.
Because entitlement is keyed to the account rather than the device, it follows you. Export your account and restore it on another computer and the allowance is still yours. It is also why the value we need from you is the Account ID and nothing else.

What a licence does not change
Nothing else. The console, tunnels, SSH, RDP, the remote browser, files, services and the MCP interface are all present without one. The shared TURN relay stays rate-limited and best-effort whether you hold a licence or not — if you need more relay time than that, the answer is your own relay, which is free and takes about fifteen minutes.
Before you ask for a licence
Find your Account ID.
In the app, open Settings → Account and use Copy Account ID.
It is 20 characters shown in five groups of four, like
4GNM-9908-0P7E-PN73-YD0V. It is derived from your account and cannot be used to
reach your machines, so sharing it is safe — and short enough to read out over a phone.
The long address on that same screen, the one inside the
relaykey install command, is a different value with a different job: machines
encrypt to it. It is not needed for a licence and no licence is keyed on it.
Caveat — never send the other one
The same screen can also reveal your account key — the private half, the thing your Account ID is derived from. That string is root on every machine you have paired, with no second factor. Nobody needs it to issue you a licence, nobody will ever ask for it, and this form rejects it if you paste it by mistake.

- RelayKey does not offer refunds. Because every client works for five machines without a licence, and the only thing a licence changes is that number, you can run the software as far as you need to before you buy anything.
- Tax
- Prices do not include tax, and RelayKey does not charge VAT.
Two things stated plainly, because a vague version would be worse
On refunds: the paragraph above is RelayKey's policy, not a claim about your rights. Consumer law in some countries gives a buyer rights that a seller's policy cannot remove, and nothing here is meant to ask you to give any of them up. If you think you are owed a refund, write to [email protected] and say so.
On tax: RelayKey does not charge VAT and does not collect tax on your behalf. That is not the same as no tax being due — depending on where you are, and on whether you are buying as a business, you may owe tax on this purchase and be responsible for reporting and paying it yourself. Your accountant, not this page, is the authority on that.
